Design Journey - An Aqua Dream with Bishop Sleeves
This aqua, embroidered organza stole my heart the moment I saw it. The scalloped edge, botanical design and soft, yet striking colour was an irresistible combination. I set myself a mission to create a piece that would do this glorious fabric justice and here is what I came up with!
To make the most of the scalloped edging I decided on a boat neckline which allowed the irregular wave of embroidery to stretch from shoulder to shoulder. By adding a concealed elasticated waist I could also bring the scalloped edge around the lower hem. The gathered waistline provided some flattering definition to an otherwise fairly boxy shaped blouse.
This organza has a lovely amount of body to it, which is one of the reasons why I chose the bishop sleeve for this design. I love how the slight stiffness of the fabric causes the sleeve to balloon away from the arm, accentuating its translucent nature. Plus, bishops are kinda fun to wear! A bit dramatic ;)
It's always rewarding to see a design I've dreamed up, come into being. I'm delighted with how this piece turned out and paired with my trusty white jeans it has provided some much needed refreshment to my winter wardrobe!
This is one of the reasons why I love the bespoke process. It pushes my creativity and brings forth unique pieces that suit my personal style.
If you are looking to have something special designed and made for you, a piece that compliments your style and figure, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd love to hear from you!
